We're underway!

23 August 20197:59pm

MD02 is well underway across Wales.

There's been a glut of goals at Corwen, where Prestatyn are 5-1 up, meanwhile at Penybont there's another big crowd in for the visit of Cardiff Met.

It's gonna be scorchio tonight!

To take anything away from The Oval, we will have to be right at the top of our game.

23 August 20192:30pm

The managers have been having their say ahead of MD02. Here's what a few of them have been saying:

Gavin Chesterfield, Barry Town United: “The first home game of the season is always a great occasion. It’s fair to say we were nowhere near our best against Penybont last week but it’s encouraging that the lads found a way to win. Aberystwyth are an experienced JD Cymru Premier team and I’m sure it’ll be an entertaining game.”

Andy Morrison, Connah's Quay Nomads: "Friday night's game at Caernarfon under the lights is one I personally look forward to - it's a great atmosphere and the players enjoy the test. Training this week have been very very good and we go into the game at full strength.

Again, as at the weekend, the strength of the JD Cymru Premier will be there for all to see - every game is a challenge and I've said it for the last four seasons that the league is improving year-on-year - that showed last weekend when Caernarfon will be disappointed not to have taken something from the champions. To take anything away from The Oval, we will have to be right at the top of our game."

Sean Eardley, Caernarfon Town: "There have been many changes to the playing staff at Connahs Quay, however they still possess much quality and, with many of the players having signed on a full time basis, it is going to prove another stern test for us. We started our season off so positively against Corwen and continued against TNS with a monumental shift.

We rose to the challenge and certainly asked questions of them, but sadly came out the wrong side of a narrow 1-0 defeat. We have set the bar now and cannot wait for the two matches over the bank holiday period! I ask all the supporters to sing their hearts out and make the Oval a fortress, they were superb last week!"

Meanwhile, Connor Roberts has joined Aberystwyth Town on loan from TNS, and he's looking forward to the challenge:

“I’m really looking forward to it, you never feel as sharp as you should when you’re just training,” said the six-times capped Wales Under 21s international.

“All players, regardless of status or age, want to be on the pitch. To get 90 minutes at the end of the week is something that I’m very much looking forward to.

“Hopefully it can be a successful season with Aberystwyth, and we can try and push on for a top six spot.”

Rydym yn Edrych ymlaen at yr her!

Llangefni forward Matthew Jones says he and his teammates are looking forward to the many big tests that are to come, as they head to the Educate Stadium to face Rhyl tonight.
